Earth Science

Rocks and minerals, soil and water, weather and the sky, volcanoes and earthquakes, fossils and rock layers, and the people who read the ground beneath our feet. Each lesson starts with a real person and a real moment, gives a hands-on experiment, and studies a public-domain picture. Long-age period names are taught as “museum words” with a ⏳ Thinking About Time box: what the sign says, what we observe, and how Christians read it.

How every lesson works

Each course is one school year: 8 units of 4 lessons, one lesson a week in two sessions, plus an optional 4-lesson Lab unit of extra experiments.

  • Warm-up. A few minutes of noticing, predicting or remembering.
  • Learn. The true story, the big idea and how it was figured out, in short sections a parent can read aloud.
  • Picture study. A public-domain painting, engraving, photograph or naturalist’s plate to look at closely and talk about.
  • Experiment. A hands-on activity with simple materials and clear safety notes, recorded in a science notebook.
  • Practice. Worked examples first, then practice with answers, common mistakes and a game.

Each lesson has a verse of Scripture (KJV) where it fits. Every course can also be downloaded as one printable PDF.
