School Launch · Terms of use

Free to use, free to share

Every course School Launch writes is free for families, co-ops and schools to use, print, copy and adapt. The one thing you may not do is sell it.

Not a school, and not accredited

School Launch is a free, helpful tool for families and schools. It is not an accredited or certified school, curriculum provider or school resource.

  • We do not issue credits, transcripts, diplomas or grades of record.
  • Placement checks, year plans and gradebook grades are informal guides to help you decide and keep track. They are not official results.
  • Parents and schools are responsible for meeting their own state or local requirements, including attendance, subjects, testing, credits and record-keeping.

Not sure what your state requires? Check with your state's homeschool association or department of education, or with your school's accrediting body.

The short version

School Launch's original lessons, worksheets, answer keys, tests, PDFs and course guides are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

  • Share: copy, print and hand out the materials to as many students as you like.
  • Adapt: rearrange, shorten, translate or add to them.
  • Give credit (BY): keep the School Launch credit line and say if you changed anything.
  • Non-commercial (NC): no selling, and no putting them behind a paywall. Charging tuition, or charging the actual cost of printing, is fine.
  • Share alike (SA): if you share your adapted version, share it under the same license.

Common questions

Can my homeschool co-op or school print 30 copies for a class? Yes, as many as you need, at no charge.

Can we charge families for printing? You may recover the actual cost of printing and binding. You may not sell the materials for a profit.

Can a private or tuition-charging school use the courses? Yes. Charging tuition is fine. Selling the materials themselves, or putting them behind a paywall, is not.

Can we adapt a course (reorder, cut, add our own lessons)? Yes. If you share your adapted version beyond your own students, release it under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 too and note what you changed.

Can we put the PDFs on our school's learning platform? Yes, for your own students, with the credit line kept.

Can a publisher or curriculum company include the courses in a product it sells? Not without written permission. Ask us.

Third-party material keeps its own license

This license covers only what School Launch wrote and made. It does not cover:

  • Videos. Lesson videos are embedded from YouTube channels such as Math Antics, Eddie Woo and Math with Mr. J. Each belongs to its creator and is governed by that creator's terms and YouTube's Terms of Service. Watch them in place. Do not download or redistribute them.
  • Images and artworks. Picture-study images, maps and photographs carry their own license or public-domain status, noted in the credit beside each image where known. Keep those credits when you print.
  • Quoted texts. Scripture quotations, primary sources and literary passages keep their original status. Most are in the public domain; any that are not are quoted under fair use for teaching.
  • External links and listings. Resources in the Directory, Contests and Channels belong to their owners.
  • The School Launch name and crest. These are not licensed for use on your own products, but you may name School Launch as the source of the materials.

If you believe something on this site is used incorrectly, write to us and we will fix it promptly.

No warranty

The materials are provided as they are. We work hard to get them right, but parents and teachers are responsible for supervising students, especially in Workshop, cooking, PE and science lessons, and for previewing videos. Found an error? Tell us.
