A full year of first-year Mandarin for high school: thirty-six lessons from the four tones and pinyin to measure words, 比, 会 and 了, about three hundred characters written stroke by stroke, the story of Chinese writing and of the gospel in China, and a verse of the Chinese Union Version beside the King James Version in every lesson, with Chinese paintings by Zhang Zeduan, Guo Xi, Xu Yang, Su Hanchen and Li Tang.
