Family Study

Teach one theme to the whole family at once. Everyone gathers for the same read-aloud, Scripture and conversation; then each child goes off to work at his or her own level in School Launch lessons, and the family ends the week with a hands-on project.

Why study together

Families with several children cannot teach six history courses at once. A shared theme lets a kindergartner and a high-school senior sit at the same table, hear the same story and talk about it, while each does work that fits. Each study runs about six weeks, links only to lessons already on School Launch, and comes with printable student pages and a teacher key.

Use a study alongside your year plan or family planner: it takes the place of history (and some Latin, engineering and Bible) for those weeks.

Themes

Ancient Rome

6 weeks · From the founding of the city to the fall of the West, 753 B.C.–A.D. 476

One story for the whole family: the city on the Tiber, its kings and its Republic, Caesar and Augustus, the birth of Christ under Roman rule, the Gospel carried along Roman roads, the martyrs, Constantine and the fall of the West. Everyone hears the same read-aloud; each child then works at his or her own level in School Launch lessons that already exist.

More themes to come

This page is built to hold more family studies over time, each with the same shape: six weeks, one read-aloud, four levels, a project and a quiz each week.
