Grade 11 Physical Education & Health

A quarter of real stories and real training science, from Nathaniel Kleitman’s month in Mammoth Cave and the Norwegian study of the 11+ warm-up to the Korey Stringer Institute, the 2002 Boston Marathon, two Swedish scientists on one shared bicycle, Ellen Swallow Richards’s New England Kitchen, Yuri Verkhoshansky’s jumps and Billy Mills’s last lap in Tokyo, each one put to work by the student in a sleep and activity log, an injury-prevention warm-up, a sweat-rate test, a week of budget cooking, a power session, a sport-specific strength plan, a threshold workout and a race.
