Grade 3 Spanish
A first quarter of Spanish for eight- and nine-year-olds, built on real stories, from the oldest city in the United States and the bell tower that counts the hours over Seville to Goya's little boy in red and Sorolla's flower garden, with greetings and magic words, counting to ten, colors, the family at the table, animal friends, and a first song sung to God in Spanish.

What to cover
10 of 10 lessons are MUST COVER. They are tested on the unit tests and exams, or are skills the SAT/ACT relies on. OPTIONAL lessons are enrichment. Do them if time allows. The course is complete when the MUST COVER lessons are done.

Grading: Recitation and flashcards (daily greetings, saying and singing the words, card games) 30%, Spanish notebook (dated pages, copywork, labeled drawings, song words) 25%, Practice questions (answered out loud, checked with the answer key) 15%, Unit reviews 15%, Unit challenges 15%. Scale: A 90–100, B 80–89, C 70–79, D 60–69. Below 60: play the games and sing the songs again with help, then try once more.
